It’s official — the social travel revolution is underway. Luxury airlines, hotels and travel services are leveraging social media more than ever — via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more — and plugged-in travelers have not only taken notice, but have stuck right there alongside them.
As you're hashtagging and picture-posting your way through vacation, it's quite remarkable to appreciate the strides brands such as Virgin America, Constance Hotels and Resorts and American Express have taken towards a more digital stance.
Virgin America has mastered “image storytelling” via Instagram. With nearly 28,000 followers, @VirginAmerica posts shots that make flights seem like a lavish flying fête. The brand also encourages customers to tag #VirginAmerica throughout their travels, proving that engagement is key. With the motto “A Breath of Fresh Airline,” who wouldn’t want to hop on a flight to paradise?
Constance Hotels and Resorts' mega-successful social media campaign “30 Days of DISCOVERY," which leveraged Facebook and Twitter, ran on submissions for inspiration. Each day’s discovery contributed to painting an engaging picture of the re-launched brand and its passion. In the end, there was a 167% increase in reach. Talk about dreaming big.
American Express excels at customer service, positioning it at the core of its strategy — which explains the 700k+ Twitter followers (hence, #AMEXKnowsSocialMedia). The brand messaging is always carefully tailored but accessible.
Is it #TravelTuesday yet?
