Sophistication and island elegance meet grace and tranquility at the iconic Pink Sands Resort, a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, one of only a handful in the Caribbean. Tucked away in charming Harbour Island located in the Bahamas, travelers seeking a revered beach getaway can head to the world-renowned resort, which is celebrating its 65th anniversary this summer.
1951 saw the birth of Pink Sands, an instant Harbour Island tradition. With an illustrious history, the resort has set the standard for island hospitality, and continues to offer guests a remarkable, unforgettable, authentic experience from the moment they set foot on property.
Perfectly positioned as the centerpiece of the acclaimed three-and-a-half-mile Pink Sand Beach, the resort’s 25 cottages, located within 20 acres, are surrounded by beautiful gardens and ocean view cottages, each featuring a private path directly to the beach – perfect for an early morning dip.
Pink Sands is the only resort on Harbour Island which features two restaurants – Blue Bar and Malcolm 51. Fresh island cuisine and classic Bahamian cocktails such as the Goombay Smash and Pink Sands original “Pinky,” can be found at resort’s legendary Blue Bar, while the recently introduced Malcolm 51 is an open-air restaurant that celebrates Alan Malcolm, the visionary founder of Pink Sands. At both dining options, guests are instantly transported into a state of pure island bliss.
The property is also currently undergoing a renovation and expansion of its cottages, which are now for sale. The renovations and construction keep with the island “British Colonial” design, featuring hardwood floors, cedar shingled roofs, natural white walls and ceiling – known as a Harbour Island trademark. David Flint Wood, a resident of Harbour Island for more than 20 years, is the resort’s interior designer. The resulting interiors have fashioned an inviting combination of textures, elegantly carved wood furniture, and a light and airy atmosphere which sets Pink Sands apart. Classic cane chairs featuring Ralph Lauren fabric accents throughout the lobby and extended cottages further reflect the new design, which creates a comfortably sophisticated space with a touch of formality.
We raise our glass and toast this iconic hotel – happy 65th anniversary, Pink Sands! For more of our travel finds, check out Travel Curator.
