The “experiential” travel trend is nothing new – sure, it’s been written about ad nauseum and seems only to be growing stronger. As an intrepid traveler myself (Elephant Polo anyone?) its evolution is what excites me. Less white glove service and tiered access to more of designing an itinerary that becomes a personal travel story; crafting a trip that helps people explore the world in a way that is meaningful and personal to them.
Preferred Hotels & Resorts recently announced a rebranding meant to help travelers achieve the objectives for their trip (girlfriend getaway, anniversary, adventure, etc.) by matching them with the perfect hotel for the guest. Banyan Tree Mayakoba is now offering an Art of Romance quiz, where couples complete a questionnaire together, helping the romance concierge create an experience perfectly suited to their specific needs.
Kensington Tours has long been a leader in the head towards experiential travel, with dedicated Destination Experts on hand to provide travelers with a completely customized trip. The experts, having lived in the destinations themselves, can curate insider experiences based on their local knowledge, getting access to areas travelers would never even dream of – and will never forget.
