As the weather begins to warm and the first signs of green emerge, there is nothing better than taking in the first breaths of spring air. Sunshine is nature’s own mood enhancer — not to mention, the source of a fab summery glow. What better way to pass a spring day than by exploring one of the many outdoor festivals this season?
This year there is a new NYC music festival to attend — Crossing Brooklyn Ferry, taking place April 25-27 and sponsored by Fort Greene institution Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). This features quite the stellar indie music line-up, including R&B and soul favorites The Roots and Solange (little sister of a certain Beyoncé Knowles).
Taking place two weeks after Easter is Seville’s Spring Festival, one of the most popular fairs in all of continental Europe. Taking place at Plaza de Toros, it features gorgeous flamenco dancers, parades, live concerts, shopping and fabulous food & wine events — all in all, an authentically Spanish celebration. Come for the gawking at Spain’s finest horse carriages alone — these modes of transport are gilded to the gills.
And look no further than “It” city Melbourne to make this heavenly season last a bit longer — enjoy the benefits of a springtime that falls during the Western Hemisphere’s autumn months! Celebrate with a glass of expertly introduced vino in hand at the Vintage Cellars International Wine Fair on May 9, which features 300 wines from over 10 countries around the globe.
