The end of summer is nigh, but no matter where in the world you are there is no shortage of posh plunges for the dog days of summer. While I’m looking forward to taking a dip in the new, ultra-luxurious pool at the Park Hyatt New York (music from neighboring Carnegie Hall is filtered through the pool speakers), most of my favorite dips are flung about the globe.
The uber-posh Huvafen Fushi resort pool in the Maldives is nestled right on the beach with an infinity edge disappearing into the ocean, and is outfitted with over 1,000 tiny fiber optic lights making it appear as if there is starlight in the water. An absolutely spectacular paradise in the middle of the ocean.
In Lhasa, a Tibetan land literally meaning "place of the gods," the discerning traveler can fulfill dreams of bathing in gold at St. Regis Lhasa Resort’s Iridium Spa. The hotel's spa pool is filled with therapeutic salt water and is lined with thousands of gold-plated tiles giving the illusion of dipping ONES into a luscious liquid gold elixir.
I’m also in love with the Zodiac Pool at Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace – it is located deep beneath the palace and has a cave-like serenity. As an astrology believer (#SusanMillerLove), I’m always distracted by the 12 beautiful astrological signs painted in gold on the bottom of the pool.
