Park Hyatt NY
Last week I found myself standing in what appeared to be an oversized, illuminated jewel box (inspired by the model above). The 26 tons of Italian white onyx puts on quite the light show, with its progressive LED lights available for those looking to create an ambience, from a cloudy white to a warm amber. Park Hyatt New York, home to the Onyx Room and jaw-dropping Yabu Pushelberg design, has finally arrived. Every inch of the newly-opened hotel is designed to a T, but it is the stunning ballroom that never fails to catch my breath. And with its jewel box allure, it’s no wonder that I feel right at home.
Launched just two weeks ago, Park Hyatt New York has already cemented itself as a luxury landmark among the NYC glitterati and discerning, international high-fliers. Ushering in a sense of a “New Classic,” understated elegance is the name of the game – from the specially-commissioned art to underwater speakers in the pool that pipe in an exclusive soundtrack from Carnegie Hall. I spent a great deal of time #primping in the massive bathroom in my suite – the custom Le Labo fragrance, Tubereuse 40, is simply to die for.
Sipping a cocktail (I recommend the Cadiz) at a bar overlooking Carnegie Hall surrounded by NYC’s movers and shakers proves the perfect antidote to the start of autumn blues.
