April 16 – 24th marks the 2016 celebration of U.S. National Park Week, honoring the spectacular landscape of the great outdoors. As a tribute to the National Park Service turning 100 this year, all parks are offering free admission for the entire week, making now the perfect time to enjoy the country’s iconic landscapes and diverse wildlife.
When visiting the national parks, we love to mix it up with a little high/low and stay in properties that blend luxury and adventure for a refined outdoors experience. Any ‘Amanjunkie’ knows that Amangiri is the epitome of this with its picture perfect setting among some of the country’s premiere national parks. Located in-between Bryce Canyon National Park and Grand Canyon National Park, Amangiri is tucked into a protected valley in the heart of the Grand Circle. This remote hideaway offers unparalleled access to the canyons, protected valleys and mountain ridges of the American Southwest. Adventures include hot air balloon rides, cultural explorations with Navajo guides, and visits to majestic rock formations nearby. Be sure to take advantage of the ladder rungs, fixed cables and guides on property to ensure a memorable experience when viewing the surrounding valley from above.
Sister property Amangani is located near Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park, positioned on the edge of East Gros Ventre Butte in Jackson Hole, a high-mountain valley in Wyoming. We love the rustic suites and homes, decorated in authentic leather and stone, perfectly harnessing the spirit of the surrounding mountain views. Adventures include snowshoeing, skiing and snowmobiling through spring, and year-round wildlife sightings of native elk, wolves, bears and moose are always possible.
