Australia’s coastline is as diverse as it is spectacular. And if you ask us, it is the best way to instantly fall in love with the land downunder. Our Aussie friend Lucy Laucht documented her recent travels to her homeland, and has shared with us some of her top picks for the best coastal views.
Every Sydney-sider would agree that the best way to get over a bad case of jet lag is a good dose of fresh air. There is no better place to take a deep breath than on the terrace at Bondi Icebergs Club, overlooking Bondi Beach and its famous ocean pool – who hasn't swooned over that pool after seeing it on Instagram? This experience is best suited for a Saturday morning visit, where one can zone out peacefully as the calming pool waters offer a reprieve from the ocean’s rough waves. After enjoying a day at the pools, the Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk is stunning. You can see some of the best views of Sydney, where the sculpted coastline kisses the sandstone cliffs, while the water is a delightful shade of shimmering blue where peace awaits.
One of the lesser-known areas for travelers is Hat Head National Park, just five hours north of Sydney. Gap Beach, within the park, is only accessible via a 4×4, but the trip is well worth the work. At Gap Beach and beyond, you can experience uninterrupted kangaroo sightings, some of the most beautiful sunsets in all the world, and mountains as beautiful as any we've ever seen. Don’t miss the Smoky Cape Walking Track and be sure to visit Mount Nguyen in the Glass House Mountains. And as our dear friend Lucy suggests, make sure to bring your own glass of vino to enjoy as the sun falls behind the mountain range.
