Beneath the shadow of the towering Hollywood sign, it’s almost impossible not to feel impressed by the star-studded glamour and constant hum of energy that have come to define Los Angeles for me. Upon recently returning to the City of Angels for a week of G’Day USA events, sponsored by the terrific Qantas Airways — and during the early crush of awards season, no less! — I was thrilled to get the chance to discover some new spots to eat, play, and shop, tucked tantalizingly between the city’s iconic palms.
Among the new hotspots are two restaurants, The Hart & The Hunter and Alma, whose chefs share a background in successful pop-ups. Their recently opened permanent restaurants have been instant hits among critics and eager diners alike, including yours truly. Nighttime brings out both the stars in the sky and the stars on the streets in L.A., signaling that its time to head to Pour Vous or The Emerson Theatre for sexy atmospheres and signature cocktails.
Finally, no visit to this shopping mecca would be complete without stopping by Clare Vivier’s eponymous boutique, where every leather purse is the epitome of eye-candy — and look quite good hanging off a a nicely toned and tanned arm, which we know Los Angeles doles out in abundance!
